Opening the Gild Perspective

The Gild Perspective contains all of the tools that you will need to write simple applications and applets quickly and easily. Each of the other common tasks described in this section will require that you have Eclipse running in the Gild Perspective. To open Gild, follow these steps:

  1. Start Eclipse.
  2. On the upper right-hand side of the screen, select the "Open a Perspective" icon. (In Eclipse 2.*, this toolbar is located on the left-hand side of the workbench.) Alternatively, you can select "Window>Open a Perspective" from the main menu.
  3. You will be presented with a list of common perspectives. Select "Gild" from the list, if it is available.
  4. If "Gild" was not available in step (3), select "Other" from the list. Select "Gild" from the list that you are now presented with, and click "OK".
  5. If "Gild" was still not available in step (4), make sure that you have Gild installed on your computer.
